Adult Muslim Funeral
The Adult Muslim Funeral Package includes essential funeral equipment and perkakas jenazah, towels and batik cloth, hearse van service, certified Imam and Jurumandi support, 24-hour retrieval of the jenazah from hospital, home or hospice, cold refreshments at the cemetery, and umbrellas at the cemetery.
Additional fees such as the NEA burial permit, family transport, doctor certification, Tahlil, and food catering are arranged separately if required.
The Adult Muslim Funeral Package by Halijah Funeral Services starts from S$1,535.
The NEA burial permit fee, additional family transport, 24-hour doctor certification, Tahlil after burial, and food catering are not included in the package and will be quoted or confirmed separately based on your family’s needs.

Yes. If the passing happened at home and the deceased has a known medical history, HFS can help arrange 24-hour doctor certification.
Once the Certificate of Cause of Death is issued, the next-of-kin can download the death certificate through the MyLegacy portal, and HFS can proceed with the funeral arrangements.
International Repatriation
International repatriation is the process of transporting a deceased person across national borders. In Singapore, this may involve funeral preparation, embalming, coffin sealing, documentation, airline cargo coordination, land transport arrangements and compliance with the receiving country’s requirements.
Repatriating a deceased loved one or employee out of Singapore involves an intricate multi-agency process.
We can handle the entire end-to-end logistics: securing the Certificate of Cause of Death (CCOD), obtaining a cancellation of the Work Permit/S-Pass/EP via the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), securing an NEA Export Permit, arranging embalming for international transit, and booking the specialised air freight via Changi Airfreight Centre.
To clear Singapore customs and secure airline booking, the following statutory documents must be prepared:
- Original Death Certificate or CCOD issued by a Singapore hospital or HSA Mortuary.
- Embalming Certificate and Sealing Certificate (verifying a hermetically sealed zinc-lined coffin).
- NEA Export Permit (CoF).
- The deceased's original Passport and valid Singapore visa/pass.
- Consular Clearance or a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from the destination country's Embassy or High Commission in Singapore.
If a Singaporean relative passes away overseas, notify the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission (Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate) and contact us immediately. We will coordinate directly with the foreign undertaker on the ground to manage local death registration, secure an NEA Import Permit via the Port Health Office, and clear the jenazah or casket seamlessly through Changi Airport Cargo upon arrival.
Yes, but an NEA Import Permit must be digitally cleared through the Corppass/TradeNet system before the aircraft lands.
Once the casket clears Changi Airport Cargo, our hearse can transport the deceased directly to a mosque or home for ritual washing (Ghusl) and shrouding (Kafan), and proceed directly to the Choa Chu Kang Muslim Cemetery (Pusara Aman) or Mandai Crematorium for immediate burial or cremation rites.
The cost of repatriation services in Singapore depends on the requirements of each case. HFS will provide an accurate quotation after understanding the destination, transport method, selected package and family needs.

Embalming is often required for international repatriation by airlines, health authorities or destination countries. Halijah Funeral Services will advise based on the airline, route and destination requirements and coordinate embalming where required.

Yes, but it is strictly regulated. Our handling staff are certified in the Basic Infection Control Course (BICC) by the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and registered with the National Environment Agency (NEA).
Furthermore, international air transit for infectious cases is subject to strict International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines and specific destination country import laws. We manage all specialised biohazard containment, double-bagging, and hermetic sealing required for these sensitive transfers.

Child, Infant & Foetus Funeral
Generally yes. A Muslim child who is born alive (even briefly) and then passes away is washed (ghusl), shrouded (kafan), prayed over (solat jenazah) and buried, similar to an adult, according to Islamic rulings followed in Singapore.
If the foetus has reached a certain stage of development, Islamic practice is to wash, wrap and bury it respectfully in a Muslim cemetery. In some cases, a funeral prayer may not be required, depending on gestational age and whether there were signs of life. In Singapore, selected mosques and Muslim funeral organisations work together to ensure foetuses and surgical remains are properly buried rather than discarded.
For a baby or child, families usually need the death certificate (and NRIC/passport details) before burial arrangements can proceed. For miscarriages or stillbirths in hospitals, staff typically issue the relevant medical documentation. We can advise you on the process.
HFS offers a child or toddler funeral package for ages 2 to 10 from S$900, and a foetus or stillborn funeral package from S$460. These prices are for van-only service and do not include separate fees such as the NEA burial permit, additional family transport, doctor certification, Tahlil, or food catering.

Manpower Support
Funeral manpower support refers to additional trained personnel who assist with the physical and logistical needs of a funeral. For Muslim funerals, this may include support with respectful jenazah movement, coordination between locations, on-ground assistance at the home, mosque or cemetery, and helping families manage practical arrangements during a short funeral timeline.
A family may need additional manpower when there are not enough relatives available to assist physically, when next-of-kin are elderly or overseas, when the funeral involves movement from a high-rise home or tight space, or when the family needs help coordinating arrangements within a short timeframe. This support can help reduce the practical burden on families during an already difficult moment.

Pro Bono Support
Pro-bono funeral support refers to selected funeral assistance for families who may not be able to manage the cost of a Muslim funeral in Singapore. It is assessed on a case-by-case basis and is subject to availability, urgency, and the family’s circumstances.
Because Islamic rites require burial as soon as possible (ideally within 24 hours), private pro bono providers like us can perform rapid, compassionate internal assessments within hours of contact. Formal government assistance (like MSF ComCare funeral grants) can take days to process, which is why emergency pro bono support is vital to bridge the immediate gap.
Pro bono support is strictly reserved for families facing severe financial distress, subject to assessment and resource availability. Key indicators include families residing in highly subsidised HDB rental flats, households with no active income earners, cases referred by medical social workers, or families currently receiving ComCare/MSF public assistance.

Yes, we will do our best to ensure the deceased receives appropriate Islamic funeral rites, including kafan and Solat Jenazah, while observing the required safety precautions. Depending on the situation, HFS may use plastic protection for kafan, hermetically sealed body bags, complete PPE for staff or helpers, and other containment materials required for safe handling. A coffin may also be provided if needed.

Placenta Burial & Surgical Remains

No. Placenta burial does not require an NEA burial permit. However, endorsement by the NEA office may be required during staffed hours. We can advise your family on what is needed based on your situation.

The package includes complete funeral equipment and items, collection from hospital or home, certified staff to perform washing, and respectful wrapping and burial arrangement. The NEA burial permit fee of S$140 is not included and is arranged separately.

Muslim families in Singapore hold commemorative Tahlil gatherings at specific emotional milestones following a bereavement. It is customary to host a session on the 3rd, 7th, 40th, and 100th day after the burial.
Families also frequently request these services for annual death anniversaries (Haul) or as part of a continuous act of ongoing good deeds (Sadaqah Jariyah) on behalf of the deceased.
Our Tahlil and Yasin recitation service costs S$150. The service includes a qualified in-house Ustaz to conduct the recitation and prayer for the deceased.
