How We Handle Child, Infant & Foetus Funeral Arrangements

1

Call or WhatsApp us

Contact us 24/7 and share basic details about your loved one’s passing. We will advise you on what to do next and what documents to prepare.

2

Coordination with hospital & authorities

We guide your family on death certification, release procedures, and required documentation based on where the passing happened.

3

Collection and transport of the jenazah

Our team respectfully transfers your loved one from the hospital, home, or mortuary. We bring the jenazah either to your home or directly to the mosque/ritual washing facility, according to your preference.

4

Ritual washing (ghusl) and shrouding (kafan)

Ritual washing (mandi jenazah or ghusl) and shrouding (kafan) in accordance with Islamic guidelines. Family members may participate where appropriate, if they wish.

5

Funeral prayer (Solat Jenazah)

We coordinate with the selected mosque or location for Solat Jenazah. Our staff assists with timing, layout, and guiding family and guests.

6

Burial at Muslim cemetery

We arrange transport to the cemetery and prepare the grave according to Islamic requirements. The jenazah is laid to rest facing Qibla, followed by final doa at the graveside.

7

Aftercare and guidance

After the burial, we brief the family on key next steps and basic administrative matters. Additional services such as tahlil arrangements and grave monuments can be arranged upon request.

What Families Ask Us

Frequently Asked Questions

Generally yes. A Muslim child who is born alive (even briefly) and then passes away is washed (ghusl), shrouded (kafan), prayed over (solat jenazah) and buried, similar to an adult, according to Islamic rulings followed in Singapore.

If the foetus has reached a certain stage of development, Islamic practice is to wash, wrap and bury it respectfully in a Muslim cemetery. In some cases, a funeral prayer may not be required, depending on gestational age and whether there were signs of life. In Singapore, selected mosques and Muslim funeral organisations work together to ensure foetuses and surgical remains are properly buried rather than discarded.

For a baby or child, families usually need the death certificate (and NRIC/passport details) before burial arrangements can proceed. For miscarriages or stillbirths in hospitals, staff typically issue the relevant medical documentation. We can advise you on the process.

HFS offers a child or toddler funeral package for ages 2 to 10 from S$900, and a foetus or stillborn funeral package from S$480. These prices are for van-only service and do not include separate fees such as the NEA burial permit, additional family transport, doctor certification, Tahlil, or food catering.

The child or toddler funeral package includes complete funeral equipment and items, towels and batik cloth, hearse van, certified Imam and Jurumandi, 24-hour retrieval of the jenazah from hospital, home or hospice, cold refreshments at the cemetery, and umbrellas at the cemetery.

The foetus or stillborn funeral package includes complete funeral equipment and items, towels and batik cloth, hearse van, certified Imam and Jurumandi, 24-hour retrieval of the jenazah from the hospital, home or hospice, cold refreshments at the cemetery, and umbrellas at the cemetery.
